Andy Murray won his first ATP Tour-level game in Europe since he conquer Kimmer Coppejans at the opening round of the European Open.
The former world number only continued his return by hip surgery by beating wildcard Coppejans, rated 158th on earth, 6-4 7-6 (7-4).
This week murray, 32, will face eighth seed Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay or Bolivian Hugo Dellien at the previous 16.
Fellow Briton Cameron Norrie dropped 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 to Spains Feliciano Lopez.
Lopez went on to win in one hour and 29 minutes and asserted the only break of serve.
Norrie had Lopez in but was not able to break back.
Regardless of the defeat Norrie will turn into the number two this week supporting Dan Evans, who replaced Kyle Edmund at the peak of the national rankings on Monday.
Edmund, who won the championship in 2018 in Antwerp, lost in qualifying this season and has been set to fall beyond the top 70.
Three-time Grand Slam winner Murray acquired his first victory since hammering Stan Wawrinka in Eastbourne in June 2018.
Murray held a 3-0 lead against his opponent in the first set but three double faults led to him being broken back, although the Scot broke again in the 10th game.
He clinched the next set at a game that lasted 1 hour 44 minutes at a tie-break.
Antwerp is very likely to be Murrays last tournament of the year, together with the exclusion of the Davis Cup next month.
He hopes to play in the Australian Open in January however is likely a month-long break once the European Open might leave Antwerp early if his wife , Kim, goes with their child into labor and finishes.
