Rotherham ended Coventrys unbeaten start to the season in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 success in the New York Stadium.
Matt Crooks struck twice for Rotherham either side of two Michael Smith penalties as riot ran.
Coventry skipper Kyle McFadzean had a day to forget being shipped off as well as playing a role in giving both spot-kicks away.
The hosts were in front after 13 minutes as Crooks header was too powerful for Marko Marosi to keep out.
The lead was dropped from the 19th minute when Michael Smith fired home from the spot after he had been tripped by Marosi following a terribly brief pass by McFadzean.
Jake Hastie might have made a terrible start actually worse for Coventry but Marosi denyed him and the rally from Crooks was retained out.
When Smith netted his second penalty of the match, rotherham did add a third goal in the 58th minute, however.
McFadzean gave it away after bringing Crooks clumsily and referee Darren Handley duly sent off him.
Yet another defensive mix-up contributed to Rotherhams fourth goal with all Crooks after Michael Rose switched off using the ball in his feet, poking beyond Marosi.
